Elsewhere
Setting up Elsewhere.
About four minutes, most of which is your iPhone installing an app. You need it plugged into a computer for this part only.
1. Install Elsewhere on your computer
Download it from the download page and open it. On a Mac, drag it to Applications first. On Windows, run the installer.
2. Plug in your iPhone
Connect it with a USB cable and unlock it. Elsewhere shows your phone as soon as it sees it. If it doesn't, unplug the phone, unlock it and plug it back in.
3. Switch on Developer Mode
Elsewhere makes the switch appear for you. On the iPhone: Settings ▸ Privacy & Security ▸ Developer Mode, switch it on, and let the phone restart. This is Apple's own toggle — it exists so people can run their own apps, and Elsewhere needs it for the same reason.
4. Sign in with your Apple ID and install
Elsewhere signs the phone app with your own free Apple ID and installs it. You'll be asked for your Apple ID because Apple requires it to sign an app this way — it goes from your computer straight to Apple, and never to us.
5. Finish on your iPhone
Install LocalDevVPN from the App Store (free) and switch it on. Elsewhere uses it to reach your iPhone's own developer service; nothing is proxied anywhere and your traffic doesn't leave the phone. Then open Elsewhere. If the phone says Untrusted Developer, go to Settings ▸ General ▸ VPN & Device Management, tap your Apple ID and choose Trust.
6. Enter your licence key and unplug
In the iPhone app, enter the key from your email (it's also on your account page) or tap Try Free. You can unplug now — the computer's job is done. Pick a place and tap Spoof.
Troubleshooting
Every error Elsewhere shows names the thing to fix. Here's what each one means.

The spoof stopped after about thirty seconds
Elsewhere was force-quit. iOS ends the simulated location shortly after the app that set it stops running. Leave it open in the background — the lock screen and other apps are fine.
The app disappeared after a week
Apps signed with a free Apple ID expire after seven days. Elsewhere renews itself; if it can't, plug the phone into your computer, open Elsewhere there, and it will renew the app.
